Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Titans May 6 Brabourne Stadium Match Report 2022

Daniel Sams held his nerve by conceding just 3 runs in the final over as Mumbai Indians defeated the Gujarat Titans by 5 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by GT skipper, Openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got Mumbai off to a solid start. The pair added 74 runs for the opening wicket before the former was trapped leg before wicket by Rashid Khan, while attempting an reverse sweep.

Suryakumar Yadav (13) departed cheaply as he lofted a Pradeep Sangwan delivery to Rashid at midwicket.

Alzarri Joseph then got into the act by dismissing the well set Kishan, flicking one straight to midwicket for 45.

Kieron Pollard’s horror run with the bat continued as he was cleaned up by Rashid for a 14-ball 4.

Tim David provided the late flourish by scoring a valuable 21 ball-44 to take Mumbai to 177/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with figures of 2/24.

Chasing 178, Gujarat Titans opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill got their side off to a fantastic start. The duo put on 106 runs for the first wicket before the latter (52) miscued a big hit off Murugan Ashwin to Kieron Pollard at long-on.

Saha departed in the same over, sweeping the leg-spinner to Sams at deep square leg for 55.

Sai Sudharsan (14) was dismissed hit-wicket as he lost his balance while trying to pull a short one off Pollard.

Hardik Pandya scored a quick 24 off 14 before being run out by a direct hit from wicket keeper Kishan, while trying to steal a quick single.

With 9 needed off the last over, Sams bowled a brilliant final over and gave only 3 runs, to give MI a stunning win.

Tim David was adjudged the Player of the Match.
