Here are the list of South African players who are going to feature in the forthcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League
The tournament will be played from 14 February to 17 March 2019, with a major part to be held in the United Arab Emirates and the end part of the tournament in Pakistan.
As seen below, four of the six teams have at least one South African player in their ranks. Only two (Peshwar Zalmi and the sixth Team) do not have them.
The league will also have its fair share of South African representation in the commentators’ box, with Jonty Rhodes, Kepler Wessels and Graeme Smith all expected to be involved.
Interestingly enough, bar De Villiers, all three batsmen who will be participating at PSL 2019 are southpaws (left handed). Ingram is a well known name on the T20 circuit, Rossouw represented the Proteas at the 2015 World Cup, and Parnell captained the Proteas U19 squad and has also represented them at youth level. The only South African player in this list without an international cap is Dolphins star Cameron Delport.
Karachi Kings-Colin Ingram
Lahore Qalandars-AB De Villiers
Quetta Gladiators-Rilee Rossouw
Islambad United– Wayne Parnell and Cameron Delport
The 2018 edition of the PSL also had several South Africans in it- Ingram and Delport played in it too, with the likes of JP Duminy, Kyle Abbott and Hardus Viljoen were also present at the tournament. Peshawar, who don’t have any South African player in their ranks this year, had Riki Wessels (the Australian born, Port Elizabeth raised son of Kepler) representing them in 2018.
