Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants Chennai Game 39 April 23 Match Report

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s valiant unbeaten knock of 108 went in vain as Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first, Matt Henry drew first blood by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane to a brilliant one handed catch by KL Rahul behind the stumps for 1.

Gaikwad along with Daryl Mitchell added 45 runs for the second wicket stand before the latter (11) pulled a short delivery from Yash Thakur to Deepak Hooda at midwicket.

In the other end CSK Skipper Gaikwad reached his half century in just 28 balls. Left hander Ravi Jadeja departed cheaply as he gloved a slower bouncer from Mohsin Khan to wicket keeper Rahul for 16.

Shivam Dube‘s explosive 27 ball- 66 powered CSK to a fantastic score of 210/4 in their 20 overs. Ruturaj was unbeaten at the other end on 108.

Chasing 211, Lucknow got off to a poor start as Quinton De Dock dragged a delivery from Deepak Chahar on to his stumps. KL Rahul then perished to a length delivery from Mustafizur to Gaikwad at extra cover.

Marcus Stoinis along with Devdutt Padikkal added 55 for the third wicket stand before the latter was knocked over by Matheesha Pathirana for 13. Stoinis featured in yet another crucial 70 run stand for the fourth wicket alongside Nicholas Pooran . The partnership was broken when Pooran miscued a big hit off Pathirana for a 15 ball-34.

The Australian all rounder scored a scintillating unbeaten 63 ball-124 to power LSG to a sixth wicket win.

Lucknow Super Giants 213 for 4 (Stoinis 124*) beat Chennai Super Kings 210 for 4 (Gaikwad 108*, Dube 66) by six wickets
