David Warner and Rovman Powell scored blazing half centuries as the Delhi Capitals beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.
After being asked to bat first by SRH skipper, Delhi got off to a poor start as Mandeep Singh, who opened the innings in place of the injured Prithvi Shaw, nicked at a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery behind the stumps in the first over for a duck.
Warner and Mitchell Marsh added 37 runs for the second wicket before the latter (10) perished cheaply, chipping a simple return catch to Sean Abbott.
Rishabh Pant who struggled early on in his innings, finally got into the groove as he smacked Shreyas Gopal for three sixes and a boundary off consecutive deliveries. However Gopal hit back by dismissing Pant bowled for 26.
Left hander Warner (92)* along with Powell (67)* featured in a dazzling unbeaten 122 run stand for the fourth wicket to take Delhi to a mammoth score of 207/3.
Chasing 208, Hyderabad lost both Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson to Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje respectively.
