Jos Buttler scored a sparkling unbeaten 71 as England crushed Australia by eight wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
After being asked to bat first by England skipper, Australia got off to a horror start as David Warner (1) edged a Chris Woakes delivery behind the stumps.
Steve Smith fell cheaply as he top edged a pull off Chris Jordan to Woakes at mid on, who took a fine one handed catch.
Woakes then claimed the prize scalp of Glenn Maxwell leg before wicket for 6. Marcus Stoinis was trapped by Adil Rashid’s googly for a duck as Australia slumped to 21/4.
Aaron Finch along with Matthew Wade resurrected the innings with a 30 run stand for the fifth wicket before the latter miscued a Livingstone delivery to Jason Roy at long-on.
Finch was involved in yet another valuable 47 run stand alongside Ashton Agar for the sixth wicket before the latter pulled a Mills delivery to Livingstone at deep midwicket for 20.
Pat Cummins came and and slammed two consecutive sixes off his first two balls he faced. However Finch and Cummins perished to Jordan off consecutive deliveries in the penultimate over for 44 & 13 respectively.
Starc struck some lusty blows towards the end before being dismissed as Australia were bowled out for 125 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/17, while Chris Woakes and Tymal Mills claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing 126, England’s pair of Jason Roy and Jos Buttler got their side off to a blistering start. The duo added 66 runs for the opening wicket before Adam Zampa broke the stand by dismissing Roy (22) leg before wicket while attempting an reverse sweep.
Dawid Malan fell cheaply as he edged a Agar delivery to Wade behind the stumps for 8.
Buttler smashed an unbeaten 71 not out off just 32 balls as England cruised to the target of 126 with 50 balls to spare.
