Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 28 September Match Report 2020

Skipper Virat Kohli scored a boundary off the final ball of the Super Over, as Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a thrilling win over Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday.

After being put in to bat first, RCB got off to a flier, with Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal added 81 runs for the opening stand. The Australian skipper after reaching his maiden fifty was dismissed by Trent Boult for a well made 52.

Kohli’s poor run with the bat continued, as he was caught by Rohit Sharma of Rahul Chahar.

Former South African star AB de Villiers and all rounder Shivam Dube added the finishing touches by scoring 45 runs in the final three overs, as Bangalore posted an imposing 201/3 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 202 for victory, Mumbai Indians started disastrously by losing wickets of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Quinton de Kock to Washington Sundar, debutant Isuru Udana and Yuzvendra Chahal respectively.

Hardik Pandya looked good in his short stay until he fell to Adam Zampa while trying to up the scoring rate for 15.

Royal Challengers looked very much in control of the game, with MI requiring an improbable 124 runs to win from 52 deliveries.

However the pair of Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard brought Mumbai back into the game with a valuable 119 runs stand for the fifth wicket, before Kishan after making a blistering 99 was sent back by Udana in the penultimate ball of the 20th over. His knock came of just 58 balls.

Pollard hit a six of the last delivery, to take the match to Super Over as MI finished at 201/5. The West Indian remained unbeaten on 60.

Batting first in the Super Over, the Mumbai Indians could muster only 7 runs courtesy Navdeep Saini who bowled brilliantly and claimed Pollard’s wicket.

Needing 8 runs in the Super Over, RCB scored 2 runs off the first two deliveries. In the penultimate ball of the second Super Over, De Villiers slammed a boundary of Jasprit Bumrah. In the final ball, King Kohli finished it off in style by scoring a boundary to give RCB their second win of the season.

MI will next take on face KXIP on Thursday, while RCB will take on RR on October 3.
