The BCCI announced a 15 member squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup scheduled to be held in South Africa from 14 January to 29 January 2023.
They have also named their squad for the bilateral T20 series against South Africa.
The team will be captained by young Shafali Verma with Shweta Sehrawat being named her deputy. India are Group D alongside South Africa, UAE and Scotland respectively. The interesting part is that Verma and wicket keeper Richa Ghosh are already regulars for India at senior level, which makes this side one of the favourites for the tournament given the duo’s experience.
The likes of Shikha, Najla CMC and Yashashree have been named as standby players.
