India vs Bangladesh First Test Day 4 Chattogram Match Report 2022

Axar Patel claimed figures of 3/50 as India edged closer to a a victory at the end of Day 4 of the opening test at Chattogram on Saturday. Bangladesh were 272 for 6 at stumps, needing a further 241 runs for an unlikely looking win on the final day.

Resuming at 42/0, openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan added 82 more runs before the former (67) edged a wide delivery from Umesh Yadav which was dropped by Virat Kohli at slip, but Rishabh Pant dived to his left to complete a superb one handed catch.

Axar then knocked over Yasir Ali with a magnificent delivery for 5. The pair of Hasan along with Litton Das steadied the ship with a solid 42 run stand for the third wicket before the latter perished to Kuldeep Yadav.

Zakir reached his maiden test hundred by slogging Axar for a boundary. However his fine innings ended when the southpaw edged at a Ashwin delivery to Kohli who took a fine catch diving forward at slips for 100. His knock came off 224 balls with 13 fours and a six.

Mushfiqur Rahim got a life in 87th over when Pant failed to hold on to a catch off Umesh. However the veteran failed to cash in on the opportunity as he was castled by Axar Patel for 23.

The 28 year old Axar claimed his third wicket by dismissing Narul Hasan stumped by Pant for 3.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were unbeaten at the crease as the hosts ended Day 4 at 272/6, still requiring a further 241 runs.
