Shubman Gill scored his maiden test hundred as India tightened their grip at the end of Day 3 of the opening test at Chattogram on Friday.
Resuming at 133/8, Kuldeep Yadav claimed his five- fer by dismissing Ebadot Hossain (17) caught down the leg side by wicket keeper Rishabh Pant.
Axar Patel then wrapped up the innings by dismissing Mehidy stumped for 25, as the hosts were folded for 150.
After deciding not to enforce the follow on, India got off to a sedate start in their second innings as Gill and KL Rahul put on 70 runs for the opening stand before the latter miscued a pull off Khaled Ahmed to Taijul Islam at fine leg.
The 23 year old Gill also featured in yet another fantastic 113 run stand for the second wicket alongside Cheteshwar Pujara before Mehidy broke the partnership by dismissing the former. Gill top edging a slog sweep to substitute Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a brilliant 110.
Pujara remained unbeaten on 102 when KL Rahul brought the innings to a close by declaring India’s innings at 258/2, thereby setting Bangladesh a massive target of 513 runs to chase.
The hosts finished the day at 42/0, with both openers Najmul Hossain Shanto (22 no) and Zakir Hasan (19 no) remaining unbeaten.
