Mohammad Rizwan’s brilliant unbeaten 78 followed by a magnificent spell of 4/8 by Shadab Khan as Pakistan booked their place in Super 4 by thumping Hong Kong by 155 runs in Match 6 of the Asia Cup 2022 in Sharjah on Friday, September 2.
After being asked to bat first by Hongkong skipper, Pakistan got off to a bad start as skipper Babar Azam perished for 9, offering a return catch to Ehsan Khan.
The pair of Rizwan along with Fakhar Zaman featured in a 116 run stand for the second wicket before the latter was caught at backward point by Aizaz Khan off Ehsan for a 41 ball-53.
However a late flourish from Khushdil Shah propelled Pakistan to an impressive total of 193/2 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing 194, Naseem Shah struck twice in the third over by sending back Nizakat Khan (8) and Babar Hayat (0).
Yasim Murtaza (2) then miscued a pull off Shahnawaz Dahani to Khushdil towards mid-on.
Leg-spinner Shadab Khan, left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz ran through Hongkong’s middle and lower order, as they were folded out for a mere 38 in 10.4 overs.
