India vs South Africa First T-20I Delhi 9 June Match Report 2022

Ishan Kishan’s sizzling knock of 76 went in vain as India went down by 7 wickets against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday.

After being asked to bat first by South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma, openers Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad got India off to a fantastic start. The duo added 57 runs for the opening wicket before the latter dragged a delivery from Wayne Parnell to Bavuma at midwicket for 23.

Left hander Kishan along with Shreyas Iyer featured in a 80 run stand for the second wicket before the former was caught by Tristan Stubbs at wide long on off Keshav Maharaj for a 48 ball-76. His knock comprised off 11 fours and 3 sixes.

Shreyas was knocked over by Dwaine Pretorius with a cross seam delivery for 36. Skipper Rishabh Pant (29) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (31*) scored some handy runs down the order to lift India to an imposing total of 211/4 in 20 overs.

Chasing 212, Proteas lost skipper Temba Bavuma early, nicking at a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery behind the stumps for 10.

Pretorius who was promoted at No 3 scored a breezy 13 ball-29, before being bowled by a slower full toss from Harshal Patel.

Axar Patel then got into the act by dismissing Quinton De Kock (22) caught at deep square leg by Ishan Kishan, leaving the visitors in a spot of bother at 81/3.

However Van der Dussen (75)* and David Miller (64)* shared an unbeaten 131 run partnership for the fourth wicket, as the visitors overhauled the target with five balls to spare.

India 211 for 4 (Kishan 76, Shreyas 36, Parnell 1-32) lost to South Africa 212 for 3 (van der Dussen 75*, Miller 64*) by seven wickets.
