England vs West Indies Group 1 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup October 23 Dubai Match Report 2021

Adil Rashid claimed figures of 4/2 as England thumped West Indies by 6 wickets at Dubai on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by England skipper, West Indies got off to a disastrous start as they lost Evin Lewis (6) to a magnificent catch by Moeen Ali off Chris Woakes in the second over.

Moeen Ali then got into the act by dismissing Lendl Simmons caught at deep midwicket by Livingstone.

Shimron Hetmyer after smashing Moeen for two consecutive fours fell in the same over, dragging a flat delivery to Morgan at mid on.

Dwayne Bravo’s promotion did not work as he slashed at a short and wide delivery from Chrish Jordan to Bairstow at backward point, leaving West Indies reeling at 37/5.

Nicholas Pooran’s horror run continued as he edged a Mills delivery to Jos Buttler behind the stumps.

Rashid then wrecked the Windies middle and lower order as they were skittled out for a paltry total of 55 in 14.2 overs.

Chasing 56, England openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler got their side off to a solid start. The pair added 21 runs for the opening stand before Ravi Rampul dismissed the former caught at mid wicket by Gayle.

Jonny Bairstow who came in at No 3 failed to get going, as he chipped a catch back to Akeal Hosein for 9.

Moeen (3) was run out following a horrible mix-up with Buttler.

Liam Livingstone fell to an outstanding one handed catch by Hosein to give his second wicket of his innings.

In the end Buttler (24*) hit the winning runs off Kieron Pollard as England reached the target in 8.2 overs.

Moeen Ali was declared the Man of the Match.
