Bangladesh vs Oman ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 19 October Match Report 2021

Shakib Al Hasan shone with both bat and ball as Bangladesh kept their hopes alive of making it to the Super-12 stage by defeating Oman by 26 runs in Al Amerat on Tuesday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh suffered an early jolt by losing Liton Das (6) leg before wicket to Bilal Khan.

Mahedi Hasan who was promoted up the order fell to a brilliant diving catch by Fayyaz Butt off his own bowling for a duck.

The pair of Mohammad Naim and Shakib stitched together a valuable 80 run stand for the third wicket before the latter fell to a brilliant direct hit by Aqib Ilyas for a 29 ball-42.

Bangladesh lost a bit of momentum as Nurul Hasan, Afif Hossain departed cheaply.

The dangerous Nahim fell in the same over, dragging an Kaleemullah delivery to Ayaan Khan at deep midwicket for a fine 64. His knock came off 50 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Skipper Mahmudullah (17) struck some lusty blows in the end to take Bangladesh to 153 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Oman, Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt claimed 3 wickets each.

Chasing 154, Oman got off to a bad start by losing Aqib Ilyas (6) leg before wicket to Mustafizur Rahman.

Kashyap Prajapati who was given a reprieve early on in his innings was finally dismissed, edging a Mustafizur delivery behind the stumps for 21.

Skipper Zeeshan Maqsood fell to a magnificent catch at deep square leg by Mustafizur off Mehedi Hasan.

Shakib brought Bangladesh back into the contest by dismissing the well set Jatinder Singh (40) caught at deep square leg boundary by Liton Das.

Bangladesh all rounder Shakib dismissed Ayaan Khann and Naseem Khushi in consecutive deliveries leaving Oman in trouble at 105/7.

Mustafizur in the end removed the tailenders as Oman ended up with 127/9, losing the contest by 26 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan was declared the Man of Match for his fine all round performance.
