Shakib Al Hasan claimed figures of 4/9 as Bangladesh thumped Australia by 60 runs in the fifth T-20 international at Dhaka on Monday.
The hosts included Mosaddek Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin, while Australia brought in Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa for Josh Hazlewood and Andrew Tye respectively.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh opening pair of Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Naim got their team off to a solid start. The duo added 42 runs for the first wicket before the former fell to Ashton Turner.
Dan Christian then got into the act by dismissing Naim caught at point by Agar for a run a ball 23. Star batsman Shakib was trapped leg before wicket by Adam Zampa for a 20 ball-11.
The rest of the Bangladesh batsmen struggled to get going and ended up with 122/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
For Australia Nathan Ellis and Daniel Christian claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing 123, Christian who was promoted to open the innings couldn’t repeat his heroics from the previous game and was bowled by Nasum Ahmed for 3.
The in-form Mitchell Marsh was dismissed cheaply by Ahmed as the Aussies were reduced to 17-2. Skipper Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott added 21 runs for the third wicket before the former was bowled by Shakib for 22. Mahmudullah then dismissed McDermott caught and bowled for 17.
Pace bowler Mohammad Saifuddin struck twice by dismissing Alex Carey and Moises Henriques for 3 leaving their side reeling at 54/6.
The 34 year old Shakib who claimed his 100th T20I wicket by dismissing Ashton Turner, polished off the tail with the wickets of Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa as Australia were bundled out for 62 in 13.4 overs giving the hosts a comprehensive 60 run win.
Shakib Al Hasan was declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance with the ball.
