KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja both scored half centuries as India took firm control at the end of Day 3 of the of the opening test on Friday.
After a rain delay for nearly an hour, Rishabh Pant played some outrageous shots before the wicket keeper mistimed a drive to short cover for 25.
The pair of Rahul along with Jadeja added 60 runs for the sixth wicket before the former edged an James Anderson delivery to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler to bring an end to his patient 84 run knock. It off 214 balls with 12 fours.
Left-hander Jadeja brought up his half century with a brilliant six over square leg off Anderson. He eventually fell after he mistimed a Robinson delivery to Stuart Broad at mid off.
Mohammed Shammi (13) and Jasprit Bumrah (28) made useful contributions with the bat to take their side to 278, giving them an overall lead of 95.
Ollie Robinson was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 5/85, while James Anderson ended up with 4 wickets.
In response Rory Burns and Dom Sibley negotiated 11 overs and took the hosts to 25/0 before rain intervened at the end of Day 3.
