India vs England First Test Day 2 Nottingham Match Report 2021

Veteran fast bowler James Anderson brought the hosts back into the contest before rain played spoilsport at the end of Day 2 of the opening test at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Resuming at overnight score of 21/0, India’s opening pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma added 76 more runs before the latter pulled a Ollie Robinson bouncer to Sam Curran at backward square leg for 36.

Anderson then dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Kohli off consecutive deliveries with Jos Buttler taking both the catches behind the stumps.

Vice captain Ajinkya Rahane fell to a brilliant run by Jonny Bairstow from backward point as the visitors slumped to 112/4.

KL Rahul (57) Rishabh Pant (7) were unbeaten at the crease after rain stopped play in the second session with the tourists still 58 runs behind England’s first innings score of 183.

Stumps at the end of Day 2- India 1st innings 125/4 (KL Rahul 57*, Rishabh Pant 7*, James Anderson 2/15) trailing by 58 runs.
