Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders 24 April Mumbai Match Report 2021

Chris Morris claimed 4/23 and Sanju Samson scored a solid unbeaten 42, as Rajasthan Royals defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by RR skipper, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a steady start. Shubman Gill who was dropped in the fourth over failed to capitalise as he was run out by a brilliant direct hit from Jos Buttler at mid off.

Chetan Sakariya claimed the prize scalp of the in form Nitish Rana caught behind by wicket keeper for 22. Sunil Narine who was promoted up the order, top edged a Jaydev Unadkat delivery to Yashasvi Jaiswal who took a fantastic catch diving forward.

Skipper Morgan was run out without facing a ball following a bad mix-up with Rahul Tripathi. Tripathi along with Dinesh Karthik added 33 runs for the fifth wicket before the former was caught at deep midwicket by Riyan Parag off Mustafizur Rahman for 36.

Morris then got into the act by claiming the wickets of Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik in the 18th over. Pat Cummins in the end scored a 6 ball 10 to take Kolkata to 133/9 after 20 overs.

Chris Morris was the pick of the bowlers for RR with figures of 4/23.

Chasing 134, Yashasvi Jaiswal got an early reprieve, as Shubman Gill dropped a sitter off Shivam Mavi at backward point in the first over.

Jos Buttler was struck on his helmet as he tried to negotiate an attempted pull off Pat Cummins. Soon after, the England wicket keeper batsman was dismissed leg before wicket by Varun Chakravarthy.

Jaiswal playing his first game of the season, looked good during his short stay before being caught by substitute fielder Kamlesh Nagarkoti at deep point for 22.

Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube added 45 runs for the third wicket before the latter was caught at short third man by Prasidh Krishna.

Samson along with David Miller put on an unbeaten 34 runs for the fifth wicket to take Rajasthan to a comfortable six wicket win.

Morris was declared the Man of the Match.
