Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings 25 September Match Report 2020

Prithvi Shaw led from the front by scoring a fluent 64, as Delhi Capitals registered their second win by defeating the Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

After being asked to bat first by Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals got off to a fantastic start as Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan added 94 runs for the opening stand, before Dhawan departed leg before wicket while trying an ambitious reverse sweep off Piyush Chawla.

Young Shaw could have been dismissed for a duck on the second ball off Deepak Chahar, but neither Dhoni nor Chahar heard the faint edge.

The 20 year old young talented batsman cashed in on the opportunity by reaching his half century off just 35 balls. In the 13th over, he was eventually stumped by MS Dhoni off Chawla.

Dashing wicket keeper Rishabh Pant along with skipper Shreyas Iyer made useful contributions, as Delhi Capitals finished at 175/3 at the end of 20 overs.

Piyush Chawla was the pick of bowlers for CSK with figures of 2/33.

Chasing 176, Chennai Super Kings opening pair of Shane Watson and Murali Vijay started cautiously by putting on 23 runs for the opening stand, before Axar Patel provided the breakthrough by dismissing Watson for 14.

Faf du Plessis joined Vijay in the middle but the latter failed to convert the start, as he was caught by Kagiso Rabada off Anrich Nortje.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) who came into to bat at No 4, fell cheaply after being run out in the 10th over.

Kedhar Jadhav and Faf anchored the innings with a 54 run stand for the fifth wicket, before Jadhav after scoring a fine 26 was dismissed leg before wicket by Nortje.

With 65 needing off 18 balls, Shimron Hetmyer dropped Faf on 41, but in the very next ball, he was caught by Pant off Rabada for 43.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja tried their best, but failed to get their side past the finishing line, as Chennai ended at 131/7, giving Delhi Capitals a 44 run win.

Prithvi Shaw was declared the Man of the Match.

For Capitals, Rabada bagged three wickets while Nortje ended up with two.

The eight match of the Indian Premier League will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
