Kuldeep Yadav’s magical spell and KL Rahul’s dazzling strokeplay helped team India start their tour of England on a winning note, as they defeated the English team by winning their opening T20 International by 8 wickets.
After being sent into bat by Indian captain Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler and Jason Roy provided England with a solid start as both added 50 runs in the first five overs.
However from being in a strong position at 95 for 1 at one stage, England’s middle order fell like a pack of cards to left arm spinner Kuldeep as they collapsed to 107 for 5.
The 23 year old became the first left arm wrist spinner to claim 5 wickets in shortest format.
Left arm fast bowler David Willey’s cameo of 28 runs helped England go past 150 run mark in the end.
Then it was the turn of KL Rahul who got a promotion ahead of Kohli and justified it by smashing his second T20 International hundred in 54 balls as India chased the target comfortably by winning with 10 balls to spare.
The duo of Rahul and Rohit Sharma put on 123 run partnership for the second wicket with Rohit playing second fiddle.
Adil Rashid was the most successful bowler for the English Team.
Indian captain also became the fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs in T20I format in the match.
