England XI for Hyderabad Test vs India 2024- James Anderson left out, Tom Hartley to make his debut

The ECB has revealed their playing XI for the first Test match against India, scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on January 25.

Veteran pace bowler James Anderson has been left out of the playing XI. Left arm spinner Tom Hartley will be making his debut in test cricket.

England vs Pakistan Kolkata Attendance 37,661 Cricket World Cup 2023 Eden Gardens

David Willey claimed figures of 3/56 in front of 37,661 crowd as England ended their World Cup campaign on an high by defeating Pakistan by 93 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, openers Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow got England off to a solid start. The pair added 82 for the opening wicket before the former was dismissed by Iftikhar Ahmed for 31.

Harry Brook scored a breezy 17 ball-30 to take England to a mammoth score of 337/9 in 50 overs.

In response Willey got England off to a dream start by snaring both Abdullah Shafique (0) and Fakhar Zaman (1). Skipper Babar Azam along with Mohammad Rizwan added 51 runs for the third wicket before the former fell to Gus Atkinson for 38.

Agha Salman‘s (51) and a quickfire 35 from Harris Rauf helped their side reduce their margin of defeat, as they were bowled out for 244.

With the win, England eliminated Pakistan from the competition and booked their spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
