India squad for first test against England- Dhruv Jurel receives maiden call-up

The BCCI has named the 16-man squad for the first two Tests against England beginning January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Dhruv Jurel has earned his maiden call-up to the India side as the back-up keeper to KL Rahul and KS Bharat.

The team will be captained by Rohit Sharma with Jasprit Bumrah being named his deputy.

Left hander Ishan Kishan has been axed from the squad as he has requested a break. The spin attack will be lead by Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has named Rajat Patidar as the replacement for Virat Kohli in the first two Tests against England who opted out due to personal reasons.

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second test due to injuries. Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has finally received his maiden Indian call-up. The hosts have added spin-bowling all-rounders Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar to their squad.
