Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore April 12 DY Patil Stadium Navi Mumbai Match Report 2022

Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube scored magnificent half centuries as Chennai Super Kings registered their first win by defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first by RCB skipper, Chennai Super Kings lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early, leg before wicket by Josh Hazlewood for 17.

Moeen Ali (3) fell to a brilliant run out by Suyash Prabhudessai at backward point.

Shivam Dube along with Uthappa featured in an superb 165 run stand for the third wicket before the latter was caught at deep midwicket by Virat Kohli off Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva for a breezy 88. His knock came off 50 balls with 4 fours and 9 sixes.

Ravindra Jadeja perished to De Silva for a golden duck. Dube remained unbeaten on 95 off 46 balls as the Super Kings ended up with a mammoth total of 216/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

For RCB, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva ended up with figures of 2/35.

Chasing 217, Mahesh Theekshana got Chennai off to a fantastic start by claiming the prize scalp off Faf Du Plessis (8), caught at long on by Chris Jordan.

Virat Kohli fell for 1, caught at deep square leg by Dube off Mukesh Choudhary.

Anuj Rawat (12) was then trapped leg before wicket by Theekshana with one that spun sharply.

Glenn Maxwell came in and smashed a 11 ball- 26, before being bowled by an arm ball from Ravindra Jadeja leaving RCB in deep trouble at 50/4.

Shahbaz Ahmed along with debutant Prabhudessai stitched together a valuable 60 run stand for the fifth wicket.

Prabhudessai who was dropped twice by Mukesh Choudhary, was finally dismissed by Theekshana for a quickfire 34.

Dinesh Karthik provided a glimmer of hope by smacking a quickfire 18-ball 34 but it wasn’t enough as RCB reached 193/9 in their allotted 20 overs, losing the contest by 23 runs.

For Super Kings, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/33.
