Bangladesh vs Australia Group 1 Super 8 Antigua June 21 Match Report

Pat Cummins claimed a hatrick as Australia beat Bangladesh by 28 runs in the DLS method in Antigua on Friday.

After being asked to bat first, Mitchell Starc got Australia off to a dream start by snaring Tanzid Hasan for a duck.

Litton Das along with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto added 58 runs for the second wicket stand before the former was cleaned up by Adam Zampa for 16.

Rishad Hossain fell cheaply for 2. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored for Bangladesh with 41 before falling to Zampa.

Pat Cummins brought his side back into the contest by dismissing Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan off the final two deliveries of the 18th over. Cummins however completed a hatrick by dismissing Hridoy and became the second Australian to achieve this feat in the T20 World Cup.

In the end,Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 140.

In response, David Warner and Travis Head got Australia off to a quickfire start by adding 65 runs before rain stopped play. Leg spinner Rishad Hossain provided a glimmer of hope by claiming wickets of Head and skipper Mitchell Marsh in quick succession.

However Warner reached his fifty as The Aussies marched towards the target. Despite another rain interruption, Australia were 28 runs ahead via the DLS method and the match was eventually called off.
