Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Game 50 May 6 Chennai Match Report 2023

Phil Salt scored a blistering 87 as Delhi Capitals pulled off an impressive win by defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, RCB opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got RCB off to a solid start. The duo put on 82 runs for the opening wicket before Mitchell Marsh struck twice- first by dismissing the latter (45) and then claiming Glenn Maxwell caught behind the stumps for a golden duck.

Kohli along with Mahipal Lomror brought the innings back on track with a 55 run stand for the third wicket before the former was caught at short fine leg by Khaleel Ahmed while attempting a flick off Mukesh Kumar for a fine 55.

Lomror smashed an unbeaten 29 ball-54 to take RCB to a massive score of 181/4 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 182, David Warner and Phil Salt got Delhi Capitals off to a quickfire start. The pair put on 60 runs for the opening wicket before the former skied a big hit off Josh Hazlewood to Du Plessis for 22.

Marsh then holed out to a full toss from Harshal Patel to Lomror for 26. Salt’s blistering innings ended when he was knocked over by a tossed up delivery from Karn Sharma for a swashbuckling 45 ball-87.

Rilee Rossouw then finished the game in style by smacking Glenn Maxwell for a maximum over midwicket, as RCB reached the target of 182 in just 16.4 overs.

England opener Salt was adjudged the Player of the Match for his fantastic knock.
