Umesh Yadav and Ravi Ashwin claimed four wickets each as India dismissed Bangladesh for 227 in the opening day of the second test at Mirpur on Thursday.
After winning the toss an electing to bat first, openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan got Bangladesh off to a solid start. The pair added 39 runs for the opening wicket before Jaydev Unadkat provided the breakthrough by dismissing Zakir caught at slip by KL Rahul for 15.
Ravi Ashwin then got into the act by trapping Najmul leg before wicket for 24. Mominul Haque and Shakib Al Hasan added 43 runs for the third wicket. Skipper Shakib got a reprieve when Rishabh Pant missed a easy stumping off Ashwin.
However the left hander (16) failed to cash in as he chipped at a length delivery to Cheteshwar Pujara at mid off from Umesh Yadav.
Mominul Haque along with Mushfiqur Rahim put on 48 runs for the the fourth wicket before the latter edged a delivery from Unadkat to Pant for 26.
Litton Das (25) looked good for a brief while before he chipped at a tossed up delivery to KL Rahul at mid-wicket, as the hosts lost half their side for 172.
Umesh ran through the lower order by dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz (15), Nurul Hasan (6) and Taskin Ahmed (1) as the hosts slumped to 223/8.
Ashwin then wrapped up the innings by dismissing the well set Mominul (84) and Khaled Ahmed (0) as they were bowled out for 227.
Umesh Yadav and Ravi Ashwin were the pick of the bowlers with four wickets each.
The hosts at the end of Day 1 ended at 19/0, with Rahul (3)* and Shubman Gill (14)* remaining unbeaten at the crease.
