India Women vs Sri Lanka Women Third T20I Dambulla June 27 Match Report 2022

Skipper Chamari Athapaththu led from the front by scoring a sizzling unbeaten 80, as Sri Lanka Women defeated India Women by 7 wickets in the third and the final T20 international at Dambulla on Monday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India Women lost Shafali Verma early in the very first over, caught at covers by Athapaththu at covers off Sugandika Kumari for 5.

Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana put on 41 runs for the second wicket before the former (22) holed out to De Silva at long off off Ranasinghe.

Meghana fell soon after for 22 as the visitors were reduced to 51/3.

The pair of Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues featured in a 64 run stand for the fourth wicket before the latter perished to Ama Kanchana for a 30 ball-33.

Skipper Kaur remained unbeaten on 39 off 33 balls as India Women reached a competitive score of 138/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 139, the hosts got off to a disastrous start by losing opener Vishmi Gunaratne (5) in the very first over.

Left arm spinner Radha Yadav then got into the act by dismissing Harshitha Samarawickrama (13), caught at deep midwicket by Mandhana.

The left-handed batsman featured in a 77-run stand for the third wicket alongside Nilakshi de Silva before the latter was run out by a brilliant throw from Bahadur at deep midwicket.

The Lankan skipper remained undefeated on 80 from just 48 deliveries with 15 boundaries and a six, as the hosts overhauled the target with three overs to spare.

Chamari Athapaththu was adjudged the Player of the Match for his magnificent knock.
