Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders May 2 Wankhede Stadium Mumbai Match Report 2022

Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh scored fine cameos as the Kolkata Knight Riders registered a 7 wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.

After being asked to bat first Rajasthan were rocked early, as Devdutt Padikkal spooned a simple caught and bowled catch to Umesh Yadav in the third over.

Jos Buttler along with Sanju Samson featured in a 48 run stand for the second wicket before the former fell to a brilliant catch by Shivam Mavi at long on off Tim Southee for 22.

Anukul Roy then dismissed Karun Nair for a run a ball 13. Riyan Parag (19) joined in and smashed 2 sixes and a boundary, before falling to a slower ball from Southee.

Skipper Sanju Samson scored a fighting half century before he miscued a Shivam Mavi delivery to Rinku Singh at deep midwicket boundary.

However a late flourish from Shimron Hetmyer (27)* took the Royals to a competitive score of 152/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 153, Aaron Finch poor run with the bat continued as he chopped at a Kuldeep Sen delivery on to his stumps.

Baba Indrajith perished to Prasidh Krishna, top-edging a pull to Ravi Ashwin at fine leg for 15.

The pair of Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana brought the innings back on track with a 60 run stand for the third wicket before the former gloved a short ball down the leg side off Trent Boult to Samson behind the stumps for 34.

Rana and Rinku Singh featured in an unbeaten 66 run stand for the fourth wicket to take KKR to a famous win.

The Knight Riders overhauled the target with 5 balls to spare.

Rinku Singh was adjudged the Player of the Match for his quickfire knock.

Rajasthan Royals 152-5 in 20 overs (Sanju Samson 54, Shimron Hetmyer 27; Tim Southee 2/46) lost to Kolkata Knight Riders 158-3 in 19.1 overs (Shreyas Iyer 34, Nitish Rana 48*, Rinku Singh 42*) by 7 wickets.
