Rahul Tewatia and David Miller scored fine cameos as The Gujarat Titans registered a six wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne in Mumbai on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Pradeep Sangwan got Gujarat off to a fine start by sending back skipper Faf Du Plessis for a golden duck.
Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar featured in a 99 runs for the second wicket before the latter top-edged a paddle sweep off Sangwan to Shubman Gill at square leg for a 32 ball-52.
Mohammed Shami then cleaned up Kohli with a yorker for 58.
Rashid Khan then struck by dismissing the in form Dinesh Karthik, top edging a pull to Shami at short fine leg.
Glenn Maxwell’s excellent innings when he sliced a low full-toss from Lockie Ferguson and was caught brilliantly by Rashid at cover for a 18 ball-33.
Mahipal Lomror in the end scored a quickfire 16 off 8 balls, to lift the Royal Challengers to 170/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing 171, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill got Gujarat off to a fantastic start. The pair added 51 runs for the opening wicket before the former miscued a wrong ‘un from Wanindu Hasaranga to Rajat Patidar at long off.
Shahbaz Ahmed brought RCB back into the contest with wickets of Gill (31) and skipper Hardik Pandya for 3 in quick succession.
Sai Sudarshan (20) was dismissed by Hasaranga leaving the Titans in a spot of bother at 95/4.
However David Miller (39* off 24) along with Rahul Tewatia (43* off 25) combined together an unbeaten 79 run stand for the fifth wicket to take Gujarat to a famous victory.
Tewatia was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stupendous knock.
