India Women vs West Indies Women 12 March Hamilton ICC Women’s World Cup 2022

Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur scored magnificent half centuries as India Women thumped West Indies Women by 155 runs on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first openers Mandhana along with Yastika Bhatia got India off to a solid start. The pair added 49 runs for the opening stand before Shakera Selman broke the stand by dismissing Bhatia caught and bowled for a 21 ball-31.

Skipper Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma departed cheaply, as the Women in Blue were reduced to 78/3.

Smriti along with Kaur stitched together a brilliant 184 run stand for the fourth wicket before the former was caught at deep midwicket off Shamilia Connell for a sparkling 123. Her knock came off 113 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes.

Pooja Vastrakar scored a 5 ball-10 before falling to Mohammed. Harmanpreet scored a fine century as India Women posted a mammoth 317/8 in their allotted 50 overs.

Chasing 318, West Indies openers Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthew got their side off to a flying start. The duo put on a century stand for the first wicket before Sneh Rana struck by dismissing the dangerous Dottin for 62.

Her dismissal triggered collapse as the West Indies Women from 100/1 slumped to 162 all out.

Sneh Rana was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/22.

Left hander Smriti Mandhana was adjudged the Player of the Match.

The Women in Blue will now face defending champions England on March 16 at the Bay Oval.
