India’s T-20 squad against New Zealand 2021- Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel & Ruturaj Gaikwad receive maiden call up

The BCCI announced the 16 member squad ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand, beginning November 17.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan received maiden call up. Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the skipper, while KL Rahul has been named Rohit’s deputy.

Senior players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami have been given a break.

The likes of Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar who were part of the T20 World Cup squad, have been dropped.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal makes a comeback back in the team, while Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar, who were in the T20 World Cup reserves, have been included.

The tour comprises of three T20Is and two tests. The three T20Is will be played in Jaipur (November 17), Ranchi (November 19) and Kolkata (November 21). The tests will be played at Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (December 3-7) respectively.
