Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders 20 September Abu Dhabi Match Report 2021

Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy shone with the ball as Kolkata Knight Riders thumped Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 wickets in Match 31 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first Royal Challengers Bangalore got of to a bad start by losing skipper Virat Kohli leg before wicket to Prasidh Krishna.

Devdutt Padikkal looked good for a brief while before he edged a Ferguson delivery to wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik for 22.

Russell then got into the act by first dismissing debutant KS Bharat and then AB De Villiers, the latter with a magnificent yorker.

Varun Chakravarthy wrecked the lower middle order by claiming wickets of Glenn Maxwell, debutant Wanindu Hasaranga and Sachin Baby leaving their side in tatters at 66/7.

Harshal Patel fell to a brilliant yorker from Ferguson for 12. Mohammed Siraj scooped a Russell delivery to Varun at fine leg as RCB were bowled out for a paltry score of 92.

Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell were the pick of the bowlers for KKR with 3 wickets each, while Lockie Ferguson claimed 2.

Chasing 93, Kolkata Knight Riders opening pair Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer got their side of to a fantastic start.

The duo added 82 runs for the opening wicket before Gill fell two run short of a well deserved half century. Venkatesh remained unbeaten on 41 as Knight Riders reached the target of 93 in just 10 overs.

Leg-spinner Chakravarthy was adjudged the Player of the Match.

The next match of the Indian Premier League will be played between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on 21 September, Tuesday.
