West Indies vs Australia Second T-20 Match Report 2021

Shimron Hetmyer scored an entertaining 36-ball-61 as West Indies beat Australia by 56 runs in the second T20 international at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by Australian skipper Aaron Finch, the West Indies lost Andre Fletcher cheaply, bowled by Ashton Agar for 9.

The pair of Lendl Simmons and Chris Gayle added 31 runs for the second wicket before the former edged a Josh Hazlewood delivery to wicket keeper Matthew Wade.

Gayle was then bowled by Marsh for 13. Hetmyer along with Dwayne Bravo added 103 runs for the fourth wicket before the former was run for a brilliant knock of 61.

Andre Russell smashed a quickfire 24 off 8 balls eight deliveries to take the Windies to a mammoth score of 196/4 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 197, the visitors started badly as they lost Wade to Sheldon Cottrell in the very first over. Skipper Finch followed him to the pavillion soon after as he was bowled by Fidel Edwards.

Leg spinner Hayden Walsh claimed three wickets as the visitors’ lower order crumbled again. Despite Mitchell Marsh scoring his second consecutive half-century of the series, they fell short by 56 runs and were dismissed for 140.

Walsh claimed 3/29 while Cottrell claimed 2 wickets.

Hetmyer was declared the Man of the Match.
