Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan scored respective half centuries, as Delhi Capitals secured a place in Qualifier 1 by defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Bangalore included Shivam Dube and Shahbaz Ahmed in place of Gurkeerat and Navdeep Saini, while for Delhi Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel and Daniel Sams came for Tushar Deshpande, Praveen Dubey and Shimron Hetmyer.
After being sent in by DC, Josh Philippe perished cheaply to Kagiso Rabada for 12.
The pair of Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli stitched together a 57 run stand for the second wicket, before the latter was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin.
Anrich Nortje then struck twice by claiming the wickets of Padikkal (50) and Chris Morris to peg RCB back.
Ab De Villiers and Shivam Dube scored quick cameos at the end, as Royal Challengers Bangalore ended up with 152/7 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
Nortje was Delhi Capitals best bowler with figures of 3/33, while Rabada claimed 2 wickets.
Chasing 153, DC suffered an early jolt, as Mohammed Siraj castled Prithvi Shaw early in the second over for 9.
The duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane added 88 runs for the second wicket, before the former was dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed for 54.
Shreyas Iyer became Ahmed’s second victim as he was caught at long on by Mohammed Siraj.
An over later Rahane was caught at short third man by Shivam Dube off Washington Sundar for a well compiled 60. His knock came off 46 balls with five fours and a six.
Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis ensured that there are no further hiccups, as DC reached the target with an over to spare.
Anrich Nortje was declared the Player of the Match.
