The Indian team, after winning the third test against the home side by a whopping margin of 203 runs at Trent Bridge, would be looking to carry forward the momentum, ahead of the fourth Test at Southampton on Thursday.
While Kohli’s men are trailing 1-2 in the five match series, there are hopes that the visitors might emulate Sir Don Bradman’s Australia that won the 1936 Ashes after being 0-2 down.
England’s wicket keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow who had a finger injury during the third Test at Trent Bridge appears to be a doubtful starter.
If Bairstow is ruled out, James Vince is set for an England recall on his home ground, with ODI wicket keeper Jos Buttler taking over the gloves as he did during the third Test.
Sam Curran in all likely will be replacing Chris Woakes, who has been ruled out due to thigh strain.
Ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s fitness continues to be a major concern for team India. Despite his hip injury he played during the Nottingham Test.
Left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja will most likely be replacing the not so fit Ashwin.
