India vs England First ODI Match Report-2018

Kuldeep Yadav bamboozled the English batting line up once again, thereby claiming the best figures by a spinner in a one day international in England to set up India’s massive win in the series opener.

His figures of 6/25 was the best by left arm spinner in one dayers.

After being sent into bat by Indian skipper Virat Kohli, England go off to an electric start, as the the opening duo of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow added 73 runs for the first wicket, before Kuldeep gave India the much needed breakthrough by getting rid of the dangerous looking Roy for 38 runs.

The 23 year old pegged England back by claiming the wickets off Joe Root and Bairstow in quick succession.

Jos Buttler and all rounder Ben Stokes rebuilt the hosts innings with a stand of 93 runs.

England wicketkeeper played positively for his innings of 53 runs, Stokes looked a bit scratchy taking 103 balls to score 50 runs.

Adil Rashid’s useful cameo of 22 runs in 16 balls in the end, helped England finish with 268 runs in their alloted 50 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 269 runs, the pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma gave India a solid start by adding 59 runs for the opening wicket.

Shikhar Dhawan fell to Moeen Ali for a quickfire 40 runs of 27 balls.

Following Dhawan’s departure, Indian captain came into bat at number three ahead of KL Rahul.

Both Rohit and Kohli added a brilliant partnership of 167 runs for the second wicket, before Kohli was out stumped off Adil Rashid delivery for a breezy 75 runs of 82 balls.

The talented Rohit brought up his 18th century off just 82 balls.
His unbeaten knock of 137 runs, comprised of 15 boundaries and four sixes.

India crushed England by 8 wickets in the first one dayer at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

The second one dayer will be played on Saturday on July 14 at London.
