India v Australia Fourth Test Day 2 Ahmedabad Match Report 2023

Usman Khawaja’s magnificent 180 and a maiden test hundred by Cameron Green helped Australia reach 480 at the end of Day 2 of the fourth test against India at Ahmedabad on Friday.

Resuming Day 2 at 255/4, the overnight pair of Khawaja and Green added 123 more runs before Green’s (114) brilliant knock ended when he was caught down the leg side by KS Bharat off Ravi Ashwin while attempting a sweep.

Alex Carey fell in the same over, caught by Axar Patel at short third man off Ashwin for a duck. The off spinner also claimed Mitchell Starc (6), caught at short leg by Shreyas Iyer.

Khawaja’s long innings finally ended when he was trapped leg before by Patel. Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy frustrated the Indian bowlers with an obdurate 70 run stand for the ninth before Ashwin claimed his 32nd five wicket haul by trapping Murphy leg before wicket for a well made 41.

Lyon was the last-man dismissed, caught at slip by Virat Kohli as the visitors were bowled out for 480.

In reply, India reached 36/0 with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill unbeaten on 17 and 18 respectively.
