Hilton Cartwright to debut against Pakistan in Sydney

Hilton Cartwright will have an opportunity to play his debut match against Pakistan in Sydney and he will be replacing Nic Maddinson who has had a ordinary series.The Australian selectors have also made one more change by bringing in spinner Steve O’ Keefe instead of pace bowler Jackson Bird with one eye on the upcoming tour of India. Pitch will be expected to turn in Sydney, and Aussies will be hoping they play spin well before the clash against India in February. Rodney Marsh resigns as chairman of national selectors.

Rodney Marsh the selector of the Australian Cricket team has resigned  due to the team’s horrendous show against South Africa.  Marsh and his fellow selectors Trevor Hohns and Mark Waugh met in Hobart following the team’s innings defeat against South Africa. He mentioned that he needed fresh thinking and also some new faces, to build the future. Marsh also played a vital role in guiding Australia in top positions both in test and one dayer’s and also  winning the World Cup in 2015. His contract was due to expire in June, but there was immense pressure on him to quit following the South Africa debacle. . He thanked the coach and the fellow selectors for their support and honesty over the past two and half years.

His team lost badly away from home to Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka,before the current result against South Africa  was the final nail in the coffin that forced his exit. Continue reading “Rodney Marsh resigns as chairman of national selectors.”
