Proteas Ladies vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup attendance 6,623 Newlands Cape Town Group Stage February 2023

The key South Africa women vs Bangladesh Ladies T20 World Cup clash saw a crowd of 6,623 at Newlands for the hosts’ decider. The Proteas won the clash to book a spot in the semis thanks to a superior net run rate, and they will now face Group 2 toppers England in the semis.

Eng vs SA Women T20 WC Semi final

The attendance at Newlands for this Proteas Ladies clash was however lower than the 8,402 that turned out for the T20 World Cup opener between SA Women and Sri Lanka Women.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Proteas Ladies, and at times, this match brought back memories of their mens’ side against the Netherlands at the T20 WC last year- they had needed to beat the Dutch to qualify for the semis, but suffered a shock defeat and were eliminated instead.

However Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits held their nerve, and Bangladesh were always 20-30 short of a challenging total, which allowed South Africa to eventually win comfortably.
