England vs West Indies Super 8 Group 2 St Lucia Match Report 2024

Phil Salt scored a superb unbeaten 87 as England beat West Indies convincingly by 8 wickets in the Super 8 encounter at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.

After being asked to bat first, Brandon King (23) had to leave the field due to groin injury. Johnson Charles then holed out in the deep off Moeen Ali for 38.

However quickfire knocks from Skipper Rovman Powell (36)* and Sherfane Rutherford (28)* propelled Windies to 180/4 in their 20 overs.

In response, England openers Phil Salt and skipper Jos Buttler got their side off to a blistering start. The duo added 67 runs for the opening wicket before the latter was trapped leg before wicket by Roston Chase for 25.

Moeen Ali was then dismissed by Andre Russell for 13. With 40 needed off 30 balls, Salt clobbered Shepherd for 30 runs in the 16th over to swing the game in their favour.

Jonny Bairstow (48)* then provided excellent support in the end as England reached the target with 12 balls to spare.
