Suryakumar Yadav scored a valiant 78 as Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by 9 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Thursday.

Yadav along with Tilak Varma put on 49 runs for the third wicket stand before the former fell to a magnificent catch by Prabhsimarn Singh at backward point for a 53 ball-78.

However cameos from Tim David (14) and Hardik Pandya (10) took Mumbai to 192/7 in their 20 overs. Chasing 193, Punjab Kings were rocked early as they lost first 4 wickets for 14.

Ashutosh Sharma (61) and Shashanak Singh (41) chipped in with valuable contributions, but wickets fell at regular intervals.

Harpreet Brar’s 20 ball-21 wasn’t enough as Punjab were bowled out for 183 in 19.1 overs, giving Mumbai a 9 run win.
