Jasprit Bumrah claimed figures of 6/45 as India took firm control by bowling out England for 253 at the end of Day 2 of the second test in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
Resuming at 336/6, India lost Ravi Ashwin, caught behind the stumps off James Anderson for 20. Jaiswal then reached his double hundred by sweeping Shoaib Bashir for six and four off consecutive deliveries. His magnificent knock off 209 ended, as he perished while trying to take on Anderson.
Bumrah (6) and Mukesh Kumar (0) fell soon after as India were bowled out for 396.
In response, openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett got England off to a solid start. The pair added 59 runs for the opening stand, before Kuldeep broke the stand by dismissing the latter caught at silly point by Rajat Patidar for 21.
Crawley scored a breezy 78 ball 76, before falling to a brilliant diving catch from Shreyas Iyer off Axar Patel. India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, turned the tide in India’s favour by dismissing Joe Root (5), Ollie Pope (23, and Jonny Bairstow (25).
The MI speedster then claimed his sixth wicket by Anderson in front as the visitors were bundled out for 253, giving India a lead of 143.
At the end of the day’s play, India finished at 28/0 in their second innings with an overall lead of 171. Yashasvi and Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 15 & 13 respectively.
