India vs Ireland First T20I 18 August Dublin Match Report 2023

Star bowler Jasprit Bumrah made a brilliant come back by claiming figures of 2/24 as India beat Ireland by two runs via the DLS method in the opening T20I at The Village, Malahide in Dublin on Friday.

After being asked to bat first, Bumrah got India off to a dream start by knocking over Andy Balbirnie (4) with a full delivery and then claiming Lorcan Tucker (0) caught behind while attempting a ramp.

Prasidh Krishna claimed his maiden wicket by dismissing Harry Tector (9) caught by Tilak Varma while attempting another ramp.

Ireland suffered yet another blow when skipper Paul Stirling (11) was cleaned up by a googly from Ravi Bishnoi. The hosts slipped even further when George Dockrell (1) was caught at cover by Ruturaj Gaikwad off Krishna.

The pair of Mark Adair along with Barry McCarthy added 28 runs for the sixth wicket stand before the former was trapped leg before wicket by Bishnoi for a run a ball 16.

Barry McCarthy (51)* provided a final flourish in the end by smashing Arshdeep for 22 in his final over to take Irish to a competitive score of 139/7 in their 20 overs.

In response, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad got India off to a brisk start. The duo added 46 runs for the opening wicket before Craig Young struck twice in succession- first by dismissing Jaiswal (24) caught at midwicket by Stirling and then claiming Tilak Varma caught down the leg side for a golden duck.

India were slightly ahead of the par score when rain intervened.

India 47 for 2 (Jaiswal 24, Young 2-2) beat Ireland 139 for 7 (McCarthy 51*, Bumrah 2-24, Prasidh 2-32) by two runs via DLS method
