Pakistan Squad for Asia Cup & ODI Series vs Afghanistan August- September 2023

Pakistan have named their squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and three match series against Afghanistan beginning August- September.

Shan Masood has been dropped due to his poor form with the bat in the ODIs against New Zealand at home earlier this year.

The team will be captained by Babar Azam with Shadab Khan being named his deputy.

The three-match series against Afghanistan will be played between August 22 to 26. The Men in Green will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Nepal on August 30 in Multan.

Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (captain), Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Tayyab Tahir, Saud Shakeel (only for Afghanistan series), Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Haris, Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Pakistan have included Saud Shakeel in the 17 member squad of the Asia Cup in place of Tayyab Tahir.

Pakistan suffered a huge blow as pacer Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to shoulder injury and will be replaced by young Zaman Khan .
