Shubman Gill scored a swashbuckling century as Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After a 45 minute delay, RCB opening pair of Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis got RCB off to a brilliant start. The duo added 67 runs for the opening wicket before the former was caught at slip by Rahul Tewatia off Noor Ahmad for 28.
Glenn Maxwell joined in and smashed a six and a boundary, before being castled by a Rashid Khan googly for 11.
Mahipal Lomror (1) was then stumped down the leg side off Ahmad leaving their side in a spot of bother at 85/3.
Kohli along with Michael Bracewell stitched together a 47 run stand for the fourth wicket stand before the latter was dismissed by Mohammed Shami for a 16 ball-26.
Dinesh Karthik’s poor run with the bat continued as he gloved a short ball from Yash Dayal to Wriddhiman Saha down the leg side for a golden duck.
Kohli reached yet another hundred with a single off Mohit Sharma. Anuj Rawat provided a final flourish by scoring a quickfire unbeaten 15 ball-23 to take RCB to 197/5 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 198, openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill got Gujarat off to a steady start. The pair added 25 runs before Wayne Parnell pulled off a one-handed catch at extra cover to dismiss Saha (12) off Mohammed Siraj.
Gill along with Impact Player Vijay Shankar put on 123 runs for the second wicket stand before the latter perished to Parnell while attempting a big hit for a fine 53.
RCB bowlers hit back with wickets of Dasun Shanaka (0) and David Miller (6). Gill hit the winning runs by smashing Parnell for a maximum over long on as GT overhauled the target with 5 balls to spare.
The loss knocked Royal Challengers out of the competition as Mumbai Indians booked their spot in their playoffs.
