Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad May 17 Wankhede Stadium Match Report 2022

Tim David’s sparkling 18 ball-46 went in vain as Mumbai Indians went down by 3 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first by MI skipper, Daniel Sams drew first blood by dismissing the in form Abhishek Sharma, caught at mid off by Mayank Markande.

Young Priyam Garg who opened the innings instead of Kane Williamson, featured in a 78 run stand for the second wicket along side Rahul Tripathi before the former fell to a brilliant caught and bowled by Ramandeep Singh for a quickfire 42.

Tripathi was involved in yet another 76 run stand for the third wicket along side Nicholas Pooran before the latter (38) fell to a magnificent low catch at deep backward square leg by Markande off Riley Meredith.

Ramandeep then dismissed Tripathi (76) and Aiden Markram (2) in quick succession as Mumbai bowlers fought back to restrict SRH to 193/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 194, Mumbai Indians opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got their side off to a rollicking start. The duo added 95 runs for the first wicket before the former perished to Abhishek Sharma for 48.

Umran Malik brought Sunrisers back into the contest with wickets of Kishan, Tilak Verma and Daniel Sams, leaving MI in a spot of bother at 127/4.

With 45 needing off 18 balls, Tim David brought Mumbai back into the contest by clobbering Natarajan for 26 in the 18th over.

However the left arm fast bowler redeemed himself by running out David for a swashbuckling 46. His knock comprised off 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a superb wicket maiden in the penultimate over, and also dismissed the debutant Sanjay Yadav.

Ramandeep Singh then struck Fazalhaq Farooqi for a six and four in the final over but failed to take MI past the finishing line, as they fell 3 run short of the target.

SRH keep their playoffs hopes alive with this win. Rahul Tripathi was declared the Man of the Match for his fine knock.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 193-6 in 20 overs (Rahul Tripathi 76; Ramandeep Singh 3/20) beat Mumbai Indians 190-7 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 48; Umran Malik 3/23) by 3 runs.
