Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami claimed three wickets each as as India beat South Africa by 113 runs at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday.
Resuming at a overnight score of 94/4, India could have had skipper Dean Elgar out early on 63. However Shami failed to hold on to a return catch.
The pair added 36 more runs before Bumrah provided the much needed big breakthrough by trapping Elgar leg before wicket for 77.
Quinton de Kock looked good in his short stay before chopping at a Mohammed Siraj delivery on to his stumps for 21.
Shami then got into the act by dismissing Wiaan Mulder (1) caught behind the stumps by wicket keeper Rishabh Pant.
Temba Bavuma along with Marco Jansen kept the visitors at bay with a 26 run stand for the eight wicket before the latter edged one behind the wickets.
Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed both Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi in successive deliveries as India registered their maiden Test win in Centurion to take a 1-0 lead in the three match series.
Bavuma remained unbeaten on 35 as the hosts were bowled out for 191, giving the visitors a 113 run win.
KL Rahul was declared the Man of the Match.
