Travis Head scored a sparkling hundred as Australia ended Day 2 in a commanding position at 343/7 against England at the Gabba in Brisbane on Thursday.
Ollie Robinson got England off to a good start as Marcus Harris was caught at third slip by David Malan for 3.
The pair of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne added 156 runs for the second wicket before Jack Leach broke the partnership by dismissing the latter caught at point for a fine 74.
Steve Smith edged a Mark Wood delivery behind the stumps for 12. Robinson dismissed Warner (94) and Cameron Green in successive deliveries, leaving the hosts in a spot of bother at 195/5.
Head along with Alex Carey put on 41 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter was caught at midwicket by Pope off Chris Woakes for 12.
Skipper Pat Cummins (12) was caught at leg slip by Haseeb Hameed off Joe Root.
The left hander Travis Head reached his century in just 85 balls as the Aussies ended the day at 343/7, with an overhaul lead of 196.
Ollie Robinson was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/48.
