Jhulan Goswami claimed 3/37 and scored the winning runs as India Women ended Australia Women’s unbeaten streak with a two win in the third and the final one dayer on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia Women openers Rachael Haynes and Alyssa Healy got their team off to a steady start. The duo added 44 runs for the opening wicket before Goswami broke the stand by dismissing Haynes caught at mid off.
Meg Lanning followed soon as she edged one behind the stumps for a duck.
Alyssa Healy (35) and Ellyse Perry (26) departed soon leaving the hosts struggling at 87/4.
Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner rescued their side with a fine 98 run stand for the fifth wicket before the former was bowled by Sneh Rana for a fine 52.
Gardner (67) and Tahlia McGrath (47) made vital contributions in the end to take their side to 264/9 after 50 overs.
For India Jhulan Goswami and Pooja Vastrakar claimed 3 wickets a piece.
Chasing 265, India Women opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana added 59 runs for the first wicket before the latter departed for 22.
Shafali and Yastika Bhatia stitched together a 101-run partnership for the second wicket before the former was bowled by Molineux for 56.
Australian Women bowlers fought back by removing Richa Ghosh and Yastika in quick succession. Vastrakar and skipper Mithali Raj fell cheaply leaving their side in a spot of bother at 208/6.
Deepti Sharma (31) and Sneh Rana (30) made handy contributions down the order to take their side close to the finish line.
