Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals 25 September Abu Dhabi Match Report 2021

Sanju Samson’s unbeaten knock of 70 went in vain as Rajasthan Royals went down by 33 runs against Delhi Capitals in Match 36 of the 2021 Indian Premier League in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by Rajasthan Royals skipper Samson, Delhi Capitals suffered an early jolt by losing openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw cheaply.

The pair of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant added 62 runs for the third wicket before the latter dragged a Mustafizur Rahman short delivery on to his stumps for 24.

Former DC skipper Iyer failed to drag his feet back into the crease on time and was stumped by Samson off Tabraiz Shamsi for 43.

Shimron Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel scored some useful runs in the end to take their side to a competitive score of 154/6 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

For Rajasthan Royals Mustafizur Rahman and Chetan Sakariya claimed 2 wickets each.

Chasing 155, RR lost Liam Livingstone in the very first over to Avesh Khan.

Anrich Nortje then got into the act by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal caught behind the stumps for 5.

David Miller charged down the wicket and got stumped by Ravichandran Ashwin leaving their side in trouble at 17 for 3.

Mahipal Lomror failed to repeat his heroics from the last match, as he guided a short ball from Kagiso Rabada to Avesh at deep fine leg.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel cleaned up Riyan Prag reducing RR to 55/5.

Sanju Samson played a lone hand with an unbeaten 70 off 53 balls as Rajasthan ended up with 121/6, giving Delhi a comfortable 33 run win.

Shreyas Iyer was declared the Player of the Match.

Anrich Nortje ended up with figures of 2/18 in their allotted 4 overs, while Avesh Khan, Ravi Ashwin Rabada and Axar claimed a wicket each.
