Deepak Chahar claimed 4/13 as Chennai Super Kings registered their first win by defeating the Punjab Kings by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday

After being sent into bat after by CSK , PBKS started badly by losing Mayank Agarwal bowled by a peach of a delivery from Deepak Chahar for a duck.

Punjab skipper K L Rahul was run-out by a brilliant direct hit from Ravindra Jadeja at short-cover. Chris Gayle, who was dropped by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over, fell to a brilliant catch at short cover by Jadeja for 10.

Nicholas Pooran fell for second consecutive duck, pulling a short delivery straight into the hands of Shardul Thakur at long-leg.

Chahar picked up his fourth wicket when Deepak Hooda gave a simple catch at mid off by Faf Du Plessis leaving Punjab in tatters at 26/5.

Shahrukh Khan and Jhye Richardson brought the innings back on track with a valuable 31 run stand for the sixth wicket before the latter was cleaned by Moeen Ali.

Tamil Nadu batsman Khan fell three run short of a well deserved fifty as he fell in last over to Sam Curran, as PBKS ended up with a paltry score of 106/8 after 20 overs.

Deepak Chahar was Super Kings best bowler with figure of 4/13.

Chasing 107, CSK opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad got their team off to a solid start with a 24 run stand for the opening wicket before the latter was caught at mid wicket by Deepak Hooda off Arshdeep Singh.

Du Plessis along with Moeen Ali added 66 runs for the second wicket before the latter was dismissed by leg spinner Murugan Ashwin for a quickfire 46. His knock came off 31 balls with seven fours and a six.

Chennai lost wickets of Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu to Mohammed Shami in consecutive deliveries in the 15th over.

Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 36, as Chennai Super Kings reached the target of 106 in 15.4 overs. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21.
